The New Testament

        The New Testament encourages man to showcase his talents, by making investments fruitful (parable of the talents). If man works the land, it is a way to value his talents in agriculture, and the same in all areas of human activity, in industry and commerce for example. But the New Testament also warns against material temptations linked to the accumulation and unnecessary use of wealth. He insists on a fair distribution of goods (parable of Dives and Lazarus).

Matthew 4:4 But he answered, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Luke 10:7   And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house.

Luke 12:15 And he said to them, take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.

Luke 14:28-30 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, this man began to build and was not able to finish.

Luke 19:23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I might have collected it with interest?

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure, you use it will be measured back to you.

Romans 13:1-14 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
